This is a dual entry because the idea of your “presence” deals with “YOUR” presence and then your “Company’s” presence. You know where I’m going with this. In reality, they’re one in the same. But, I’m going to break it down into some practical advice for you today.
I’m constantly reaching and contacting other business owners, entrepreneurs, working on a new project, etc. and I hear people say to me, “I like your style”. One of the main things I try and bring to my businesses is ME. I bring who I am to whatever it is that I’m doing and I don’t try and hide that. WHO YOU ARE is all you have. Everyone has another product, everyone can lower the price, raise the price, increase the quality, outsource to China, etc. But NO ONE can give YOU to the people. YOU are the reason people are doing business with you. If they’re doing business with you because you’re cheap then you may not have that customer next week. On the other side…
Making your presence known is also getting the news out there. You have a great web site but no one knows about it. You have a great product but no one knows about. Well, in my
meeting with other business owners I’m running across a lot of people who help others get traffic, recognition, etc. to their websites and businesses and here’s what I want to do.
I’m going to be honest with you and let you know that if something isn’t working or someone’s product may be lacking in an area, I’m going to let you know about it. The people that I’m meeting are going to see if what I have will help their audiences and I want to know if what they have helps you. So, let me know when I bring something your way if it’s something you’re interested in, something that works, etc.
The idea of what I’m doing is called a “swap”. You can ad swap, list swap, and anything else swap I’m sure. It’s commerce, the essence of “trade” if you like.
Not everyone does business this way but in my opinion it keeps you true to what you’re trying to contribute to the world and keeps you connected to it. Helping people. Help other people get their business going and eventually people will help you out as well.
Here’s the trick… make sure what you’re sharing is good stuff. That way it’s really helping people. One of the ways I try and make sure this is covered is I talk with the person whose product I’m going to be sharing. I want to know who that person is. Are they a quality person, do we get along, do we like each other, do we sincerely want to help each other or are they just interested in themselves. If they pass this test then with any application of the product and any effort at all, it’s likely to work and be great.
